The average age for a child to receive their first smartphone is typically 11 to 12 years old. Ownership rates increase significantly around this time, with roughly 71% of 12-year-olds owning a smartphone, rising to 91% by age 14. Studies indicate many children now receive their first smartphone at age 10 or younger.

• Key Milestones: By age 10, 42% of children own a phone, and by age 12, that number jumps to 71%
• Pre-teen Ownership:Data suggests 11 is the most common age for the first smartphone.
